This is a fantastic development opportunity for the right individual to join the Senior Finance Team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.  We are very proud to be accredited at Level 3 for Towards Excellence and won the Great Place to Work award from HFMA NW in 2019.

This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave and would be suitable for a secondment opportunity.    We pride ourselves at Stockport on the development culture we have created and previous post holders in this role have gone on to secure Deputy Director of Finance roles in the North West, so is an ideal career opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant with relevant financial management experience 

 

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are to provide a high quality financial management service throughout the Trust so that accurate and timely management information can be provided on the overall financial position for the Trust.  This will include reporting on the income and expenditure position including achievement of CIP and will include reporting to the Trust Assurance Committees, NHSI/E and Greater Manchester as the Integrated Care System(ICS).

At a time when the finance regime is changing, this role is pivotal in the planning process, ensuring that the financial plans meet the changing needs of the organisation and  that the Finance team meets the needs of reporting internally and externally, as well as ensuring that there is a high level of engagement across the Trust.   

Leading and developing the financial management team of 17 staff is also a key part of this role.

Having an individual with strong personal values and integrity is key to being successful in this role.  The financial management team is well established and respected in the organisation;  these attributes are essential in order to lead this team.

This role will ensure that a number of key statutory returns are produced for the Trust within defined timescales but as the finance regime is changing then it is vital that someone can ensure that the reporting system and resources can flex to meet the needs to the service.  

Effective planning is another key aspect of this role and we are looking for an individual who can provide a highly structured approach to delivering the changing requirements; ensuring that stakeholders are effectively engaged in the planning cycles.   

There are a number of projects in the Trust where financial management expertise is required to support colleagues internally but also to represent the Trust externally in the GM ICS.  These present a great development opportunity.
