Signpost Stockport for Carers

Signpost Stockport for Carers is a well respected and forward thinking carers support organisation, based in Heaton Moor, Stockport. Following the retirement of our longstanding benefits information worker, we are looking to recruit to the post of Carer Support Worker (Moneywise).

This is a great opportunity to work with a local, independent organisation that really does makes a difference to people’s lives. This position involves supporting carers and those they are caring for to make applications for benefits and support. It will suit someone who enjoys talking to people, and making an impact! Experience of working with the general public is a must. Our ideal candidate will have current working knowledge of Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance, Carers Allowance, PIP and DLA. If they have experience of enabling people to access other services such as those provided by HMRC (eg tax credits, PAYE), and specific to Stockport (blue badges, Council Tax, financial assessment form) then that’s even better! Some training and support will be available, so you are encouraged to apply if you feel that you meet most, if not all, of the criteria.
Working as a part of the adult carers support team, this role will also be expected to offer emotional support and signposting to other Signpost services and external sources of support so they need to be confident, resilient, flexible and enjoy working as part of a fabulous team.

Salary - £25,000 (pro rata if job share) plus 3% pension contribution.
Hours – 37 hours per week, to be worked over 5 days. This position is open to job share.
Contract –One year fixed contract, with possibility of extension subject to funding.

Please note we are a key organisation working within health and social care. The successful candidate will be asked to work from home and spend time in the office, with covid-secure measures in place. They may also be required to conduct home visits and have meetings in other public locations, as well as working over the phone and using video calls.

Closing date – Monday 10th May at 12 noon
Interviews – Week commencing 17th May
Starting date – As soon as possible.
