Across the Council, Corporate and Support Services (CSS) play key roles as both enabler and leader. The vision for CSS is to be a trusted provider of corporate and support services working in partnership to deliver the best outcomes for the people of Stockport.
CSS is committed to providing professional, responsive, solution focused services but we recognise that we have a finite resource. As such we will work with our customers to define and respond to organisational priorities. This will require a different approach to the way we plan, resource and deliver CSS services.
Key to the success of CSS is an innovative, effective and flexible finance function that collectively supports:
• Elected members and officers at all levels across the Council to make informed decisions, taking account of risk and resource considerations;
• The promotion and delivery by the whole authority of good financial management so that public money is safeguarded at all times and used appropriately, economically, efficiently, and effectively; and,
• The Council’s S151 Officer to discharge his statutory duties with regard to the financial administration and internal control of the organisation.
The CSS Officers report directly to their Management Accountant but work very closely with budget managers, providing a high standard of management accounting service for revenue, capital and projects.
The role offers variety in an ever improving and innovative environment. We are looking for a committed individual who can work flexibly and ensure a high standard of accounting services is provided, meeting the challenges of an ever changing environment.
You will work as part of a team delivering an effective, efficient and professional financial advisory service to the Council. Support nominated heads of service to manage and monitor their financial resources, forecasting budget scenarios and training budget holders to understand their financial position and to undertake less complex monitoring independently.
