Shield Safety Group and looking for a motivated, ambitious and driven individual to join their team to assist with day-to-day financial processing duties and help the Finance Team monitor and control the company’s finances.

Job Description

Main Duties:

• Undertake the processing of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank receipts/payments for the organisation. Accurate day-to-day inputting of transactions onto the accounting system and the maintenance of financial records including the inputting and completion of postings to meet the strict month end timetable
• Assist in the preparation of VAT and other statutory returns as required by HMRC prior to the specified dates
• Maintain and update the fixed assets register
• Control Account Reconciliations for Debtors/Creditors/Bank/etc
• Assist with the preparation and review of the monthly management accounts
• Provide support, advice and information as required for the budget holders
• Contribute to the continuous process of reviewing and updating Shield Safety Group financial systems and procedures.
• Assist in the maintenance of Shield Safety Groups financial procedures manual
• Ad hoc analysis to support the Finance Manager in controlling and monitoring the Company’s financial performance
• Be responsible for maintaining and updating filing systems and undertaking ad hoc archiving duties
• Ensure all transactions and stored information is compliant with the Data Protection Laws
• Contribute to delivery and achievement of company key performance indicators

Requirements

• Minimum of five GCSE’s at Grade A-C or 9-4 including Maths and English
• Basic knowledge of finance processes and systems or an AAT Level 2 qualification would be an advantage

• Ability to work under own initiative to broad agreed deadlines.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work across all levels of the organisation

• Good organisational and time management skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Computer literate with good IT Skills

• Understanding of the importance of customer services and teamwork

• Basic knowledge of Windows Office software applications

Training

Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship standard, which includes:

• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
• End-Point Assessment (EPA)
