Sports Assistant (Volunteer)
Location: Ashton under Lyne | Salary: Expenses only
Do you love sport? Are you a friendly and confident person with a few hours to spare on a weekday afternoon? If so you could make our ideal Volunteer Sports Assistant!
At Ashcroft College, we welcome young people aged 14-16 who have been (or may in future be) excluded from mainstream education. Our sports students explore the theory and practice behind sport, exercise, health, and fitness. By joining us as a Volunteer Sports Assistant you could give help us give more one-to-one support to students than we would otherwise be able to, helping them to love learning again.
As a Volunteer Sports Assistant you'll:
participate in team sports so that we have equal-sized teams
facilitate sports activities (including theory sessions) as directed by the teacher / coach
help to set out and put away equipment
encourage students and give them a few sports tips!
No qualifications are required for this role, but we are looking for people with:
some experience of playing or coaching sport
confidence to work with children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs
a friendly and supportive attitude.
We would love it if you could join our friendly and dedicated team! In return, we offer our volunteers out-of-pocket expenses, training, and support. You'll also be able to gain experience of working with children and young people in special education, feel a sense of pride in making a real difference, and put your sports skills to great use!
