Targeted Youth Worker
Scale 6
Full Time

An opportunity has arisen to recruit to a number of Targeted Youth Worker posts to deliver Detached Youth Outreach programmes within Stockport and the further development of a youth programme we have called R Time.
These Targeted Youth Worker posts will develop and support the delivery through the provision of a Detached Youth Work offer operating within communities, including evenings and weekends.  We are looking for a team of part-time Targeted Youth Workers who will be based in Stockport Council’s Youth Justice & Targeted Youth Service.   They will also work with a group of Team Leaders from Stockport Youth Justice, Life Leisure and Stockport Homes Group who make up the board of an approach we have called R Time which has a focus on youth work in Stockport.

The posts will be mainly street-based in communities, where they can actively engage and work with children and young people, including those that are involved in anti-social behaviour, organised crime, exploitation and other forms or risky behaviours that has often disengaged them from other services and places them at risk; whilst also having a detrimental impact on the communities in which they live or operate within.

Applicants will have recent experience and/or a recognised qualification in youth work and development and a proven ability to engage, inspire and motivate young people and youth organisations to connect with the detached youth work offer and sustain this throughout a range of programmes and interventions.

Working proactively with Stockport Family, GMP, Stockport Homes, Life Leisure, SMBC Neighbourhoods Team and a range of VCSE groups the post will undertake a partnership response to identification, problem-solving and devising interventions that work in communities and serve to reduce anti-social behaviour, youth disorder and disengaged young people.

All the posts are fixed term to April 2022 in the first instance and funded through a mix economy of grants including, National Lottery Fund and SMBC funding; they will be based within the Youth Justice & Targeted Youth Support Service and line managed through the Senior Youth Work Lead.

T&C will be under NJC with added payments for unsocial hours
