Offer a Kickstart Placement

Create valuable opportunities for 16-24 year olds in Stockport

Stockport Council and Stockport Jobs Match are proud to partner with the Growth Company to help businesses access and benefit from the Government’s new Kickstart scheme – helping to give young people the opportunity to gain vital skills and experience that will boost their employability.

Kickstart is a £2 billion Government initiative delivered in response to the biggest global economic, societal and public health shock for decades. Young people are particularly vulnerable, with many 16-24-year-olds working in some of the hardest-hit sectors, such as hospitality and retail.

How does the Kickstart Scheme work?

The Government is offering a subsidy to businesses to create new Kickstart job roles, to inject the talents and energies of young people and help firms with their recovery, as well as providing fully funded support for wages, additional support and administration requirements. Our Kickstart package of support is being powered by the Growth Company, a not-for-profit social enterprise, and includes:

 Being Your Gateway Organisation

We can help you apply for and secure Kickstart job placements, regardless of how many placements you’re able to offer. If you don’t have the minimum requirement of 30 placements on your own, we will partner you with other organisations in our network and apply on your behalf as a Gateway organisation.

 On-Placement Support

We can offer you a tailored package of support to help you nuture your kickstarters during their placement and beyond. We’ll design and develop bespoke training, from personal action plans to job-relevant training and qualifications. Saving you time and resources, our on-placement support will also help kickstarters develop new skills and improve their long-term career prospects.

 Enhanced Employment Services

We can provide a range of HR and ‘back-office’ support to help onboard your new-starters – so you can simply ‘host’ the placement and leave the rest to us. From employment contracts to payroll, we already have a strong track record taking care of the recruitment, onboarding and HR needs of local employers.
