Launch of the Kickstart Scheme
Heard about the Kickstart Scheme? Chancellor Rishi Sunak first announced his Plan for Jobs in July, but full details of the scheme have been announced this week. So what is it, who’s it for and how do you apply?
Want a kickstart?
The Kickstart Scheme is your opportunity to take a 6 month job placement with a local employer, paid for and funded by the Government. The aim is to provide an opportunity for you to get work experience, as well as teaching you the skills required to go on and find future work once the placement ends.
The Kickstart Scheme was announcement by the Government earlier in the Summer, but full details have been published this week. The scheme includes a £2bn pot to fully fund positions with businesses across the UK and expects to offer thousands of job opportunities over the next 2 years.
Am I eligible?
The Kickstart Scheme will be open to anyone aged 16-24 years old who is claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. Work coaches from your local Job Centre Plus will be able to advise you as to whether the scheme is right for you and what opportunities are available locally. Applications from employers are now underway, with the first jobs available from November.
How do I apply?
You should start by contacting your local Work Coach about how to register and what jobs they have coming up. If you don’t have a Work Coach and you’d like to learn more about the Kickstart Scheme, please click the button below to send us your contact details and one of our Advisors will call you back to help you get started.
