Post-16 Careers Week 2023

Monday 9th – Friday 13th October 2023

 

Stockport Council and Stockport Jobs Match bring you a week-long Virtual Careers Fair to help you understand your choices from 16+.

Whether you're considering A-Levels or Apprenticeships, University or employment, or you're still undecided, join our 5-day event to learn about different career, education and training pathways and meet with local business and training providers.

 

Discover your career options after finishing your GCSEs or leaving college/sixth form.

  • Learn about different qualifications and explore further and higher education routes – from A-Levels to Apprenticeships, Degrees to HNDs.
  • Explore local sixth forms, FE and HE colleges, universities and training providers in one place and ask your questions to the experts.
  • Hear from Stockport employers about current job opportunities and careers of the future.
  • Access resources for students, teachers, parents and carers to help plan your next steps at 16+ and 18+.

This year we've launched a dedicated Instragram account where you can view videos, content, live event updates, resources, stories, reels and more in the lead up to Post-16 Careers Week, during the week itself and for the rest of the academic year.

16+ College & Sixth Form Prospectus 2023/24

 

Struggling to find out about courses, open days and options for study? Need to know how a BTEC compares to a T-Level, and which course is right for you?

Check out our complete guide to qualifications and training routes from 16+, covering levels and subjects/sectors, how/where to study them and what they could lead on to. Our 16+ College & Sixth Form Prospectus for this academic year brings you everything you need to know in one place!

Available from mid-September, it can be downloaded and viewed online and will be regularly updated with information about:

  • Qualifications explained (what the different levels actually mean and how they compare)
  • Different types of academic and vocational qualification, their study methods and how they’re assessed
  • Where to study each qualification/subject type (so you know exactly where to apply for)
  • Full listings of all Stockport colleges and sixth forms – including their courses, contact details, open events and prospectus

Join our Live Events for students, parents and carers to learn everything you need to know about heading off to sixth form, FE or HE college, university or starting an apprenticeship. Hear from local providers all in one place, find out about upcoming open days and ask your questions to our guest panel.
