Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is one of the largest Fire and Rescue Services outside London with more than 2,100 members of staff and 41 fire stations.
We cover an area of approximately 500 square miles and a culturally diverse population of 2.8 million people.

GMRFS Training Courses for Young People in Greater Manchester
The Prince’s Trust Team programme is a 12 week personal development course for 16 to 25 year olds, for unemployed people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.
We run three courses each year across Greater Manchester where young people have the opportunity to gain qualifications, meet new friends, have fun and be part of something truly amazing.
Maybe you’ve just finished school, college or even university and you are just not sure what to do next. Perhaps you have been out of work and are needing some support to get back into your next job. Take a positive step and get in touch with us whatever your circumstances or background.
During the 12 weeks, team members will participate in team building activities, community challenges, supporting others and of course fire fighter experience
Team members will also take part in a team building residential activities where you will experience outward bound activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and a range of problems solving activities as a team a one of our carefully selected venues.
You will also have the opportunity to work towards recognised qualifications, as well as develop many skills, such as:
- Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills
- Emergency First Aid at work (HSE Approved)
- Work Placement
- Health and Safety
- Manual Handling
- Basic Food Hygiene (certified by CIEH)
- Personal, Employability, Achievement and Reflection for Learning
