Pure College, part of the established charity Pure Innovations, launched in September 2022, with the aim of further expanding our offer to young people aged 16-25 with mild-moderate learning difficulties and autism. Empowering them to gain and maintain employment.

Courses Available from Pure College in Stockport

Ambition for Life

  • 4 days per week
  • Monday – Thursday
  • 9.30am – 3.30pm

In Ambition for Life; The course offers an introduction into employment alongside developing independence and preparation for adulthood.

The course covers a full study programme made up of the following areas

  • Vocational Qualification
  • Independent Living, Life Skills & an introduction to Travel Training
  • Maths and English
  • Work Experience – within Pure External services i.e. Catering, Horticulture, Customer Service, Baking, administration.  If none of these are suitable alternative placements will be explored.
  • Industry Experience Days
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Tutorials (group and 1:1)
  • Enrichment

Ambition for Work

  • 4 days per week
  • Tuesday – Friday
  • 9.30am – 3.30pm

The course will build you a work experience profile and you will also be able to undertake a full study programme made up of the following areas: –

  • Career Themed Vocational Qualification
  • Travel Training
  • Mental Health & Wellbeing (incl. managing stress)
  • Maths and English
  • Work Experience
  • Industry Experience Days
  • Tutorials (group and 1:1)
  • Enrichment

In Ambition for Work; Students will complete The Employment and Professional Development qualification which will enable students to develop skills, attributes, behaviours and values, which contribute to increased confidence and motivation and enable sustained and successful employment. Students will cover a range of topics including Work Goals and Aspirations, CV Writing, Dealing with Difficult Situations in a Workplace, Managing Stress in the Workplace, Job Applications and Cover Letters, Understanding Pay and Pensions and Understanding Cultural Differences in the Workplace.

Supported Internship – 1 year study programme

  • Classroom – Stockport Council Town Hall
  • 4 days per week
  • Monday – Thursday
  • 9.00am – 3.30pm

Our Supported Internship programme is designed for students that have an aspiration for paid work.

The Supported Internship provides Students with a structured, work-based study programme. This includes up to three work placements, facilitated by the support of an expert job coach, to enable students to identify their chosen career pathway. Students will access the classroom for approximately 30% of the week, usually at the start and end of the day. In the classroom Students will complete functional Maths and English topics as well as working towards their individualised Long Term Aspirations as outlined in their Education Health and Care Plan.

The internships provide the opportunity for young people to achieve sustained, paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace.  It is not a Work Experience programme.

Along with specific work-related skills like food hygiene and manual handling, students will also benefit from improved communication, problem solving skills, and confidence building strategies. By the end of the programme, you will understand you career options and most of our students move into paid employment.

You will access:

  • Careers advice and guidance
  • Vocational profile to help identify work placements you would like to try.
  • You will be supported 1:1 in the workplace by a trained job coach.  (We will slowly reduce our support as you start to feel more confident in the role)
  • Enjoy up to three different work placements.
  • Work placement reviews

Securing employment at the end of the course will:

  • Increase your financial independence.
  • Build your confidence and self-esteem.
  • Improve your health and well-being.
  • You will have more friendships and a social life.

Entry Requirements:

We expect students coming to the college to have achieved (or be able to demonstrate working at) Entry Level 2 with the ability to work towards Entry Level 3 or higher over the course of their programme.

An individual assessment will be undertaken to identify the student’s academic profile (including maths, English, and vocational subject areas).

Students are required to demonstrate a strong ethos and commitment to engage in employment at an appropriate future date.
