Stockport Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a successful, popular, parenting programme delivered by parents who live in their own community.
We offer a mixture of workshops and courses, virtual and face to face, helping parents to learn practical communication skills for everyday life and bring up confident, happy and co-operative children.
About Stockport EPEC
Parent Group Leader Training
All our volunteer Parent Group Leaders live in Stockport and deliver our EPEC parenting courses ideally in their local community, either in a group or online.
The course is voluntary and is currently delivered online, 1 day per week over 10 weeks and childcare can be funded for parents accessing the course (to be pre-arranged) and whilst they are delivering an EPEC course.
The course equips local parents to facilitate parenting courses in their own communities, with continued support from specialist EPEC Supervisors. On successful completion of the training, Parent Group Leaders have access to other training and development opportunities too, for example, safeguarding, restorative practice etc through ourselves or partner organisations – an amazing opportunity for local parents who have a few hours spare each week to volunteer with us!
Here’s what some parents who have accessed EPEC courses have said about our existing Parent Group Leaders:
- “Training is fun, interactive and supportive”
- “I was made to feel very comfortable!”
- “Loved the group discussions on what qualities and responsibilities a group leader would need.”
- “Loved getting to know people better, finding out about some aspects of the BAP content”
- “Learnt loads about the perfect parent, stereotypes and descriptive communicating”
- “I can do this!”
